Heyyy there!! I'm back for day 11 of the 30 day post challenge. I hope you all had a great day today! Mine was very productive, and quiet as it's kept, my best days at my job are when I'm overly busy. Its funny because I really dislike talking on the phone, but at work I get video calls all day about something, and I like those! LOL
So, the topic for this post is : "My family is so..."
Different! When I say different, that's not necessarily an all bad thing. Sometimes different is good! At a young age, I was given some freedom. My mom tired not to whoop us much, she'd rather talk to us to tell us how our (my brother and I) actions would hurt her. It worked... for the most part.
[DISCLAIMER : Don't get it twisted, oh, I got whoopings! If I had time, I'd tell yall about the time I got whooped under a chair. She didn't stop swinging once!!]
My mom also taught me to be very independent. She allowed me to think for myself and make some decisions on my own at an early age. Some of my friends were close with their mom, more like friends. My mom said plan and clear, "I'm NOT your friend. I'm your mom first and I'll be your friend later." It was mostly just my mom and brother growing up. We had family always close by, but ultimately, it was just the three of us. I saw other people being very close to their family, but somewhere along the way, we lost the closeness we once had. I don't know how to get it back even though I want to. I still talk to my cousins but it's not like it was. It hurts, but I've realized, now that I am an adult, I have the ability to make things right one step at a time. And I plan to do just that. I love and cherish my family. And that's for both sides of my family. My dad's side I interact with a tad more, but not very much since most of them are in Louisiana or beyond. It'll get better though. I've prayed for it, and I know it will.
What's your family dynamic? Are you guys close? Maybe I can come to the family reunion and act like a cousin... lol.
Until tomorrow,
Honestly,
MARY
